Black Aces Hockey Player of The Year
Jussi Markkanen

BLACKACESHOCKEY.COM has selected Edmonton Oilers goaltender Jussi Markkanen as Black Aces Hockey Player Of The Year.  Just about everyone thought that it was all over for the Oilers after number one goalie Dwayne Roloson went down with an injury in game one of the final series.  After all, Roloson was outstanding in the three previous series, making spectacular saves in wins over Detroit, San Jose, and Anaheim.  When Oilers backup netminder Ty Conklin struggled, in came Markkanen, a true Black Ace having been rated as the number 3 goalie who had not played in 2 months.  Markkanen was a big reason the series went 7 games.  The final could have been a 4 game blowout without him.  He gave the Oilers a real chance to win game 7 with great save after great save.  Our hats off to Jussi Markkanen (literally, we are sending him a Black Aces Hockey hat as well as some of our other apparel) the first ever Black Aces Hockey Player Of The Year....
